Infinite passion…..
Infinite danger….
His touch spirals through me, warm and sweet, wicked and hot. I shouldn’t trust him. I shouldn’t tell him my secrets. But how do I not when he is the reason I breathe? He is what I need.
At the young age of eighteen, tragedy and a dark secret force Lara to flee all she has known and loves to start a new life. Now years later, with a new identity as Amy, she’s finally dared to believe she is forgotten–even if she cannot forget. But just when she lets down her guard, the ghosts of her past are quick to punish her, forcing her back on the run.
On a plane, struggling to face the devastation of losing everything again and starting over, Amy meets Liam Stone, a darkly entrancing recluse billionaire, who is also a brilliant, and famous, prodigy architect. A man who knows what he wants and goes after it. And what he wants is Amy. Refusing to take “no” as an answer, he sweeps her into a passionate affair, pushing her to her erotic limits. He wants to possess her. He makes her want to be possessed. Liam demands everything from her, accepting nothing less. But what if she is too devastated by tragedy to know when he wants more than she should give? And what if there is more to Liam than meets the eyes?
He is my sanctuary from everything else. He alone is my escape.
I went into this book with a few preconceived notions of how it could possibly go, and to say I wasn't even close would be a serious understatement. I was suspended in time, gripping my Kindle so tight I though it would break. Lisa dives straight into the story, no preface or big build up we're just suddenly transported into Amy's world and I found myself wanting to stay immediately. I wanted to piece together the puzzle, look for clues and make sense of it all, and the more the story progressed the more I was drawn in. Amy was not what I was expecting, she was a character with a hell of a lot of depth, so much so it became impossible to not become invested in her. She is a woman living in fear, a woman all alone and running from the unknown. All she knows is she is not safe, they are coming. Yet despite her circumstances, fate seems to throw her bone, or to put it more aptly a tall, dark, delicious alpha specimen. Through their fast and sexually charged relationship Amy begins to see everything is not as it appears, believing without seeing is not working for her anymore.
Her world is turned upside down, she begins to crave things she has no right craving. She longs to belong, to trust, to be herself and more than anything to fall in love. But life has been unkind to Amy Bensen these last few years, and to get close or let anyone close is a distraction and a mistake she cannot afford to take. That's the thing about life, nothing ever goes how we want it to. So when she boards a plane and meets Mr. Tall, dark and sexy, she'll never be the same again and soon answers are needed.
I have to walk away. I will trust him. I will pull him into my hell. And then one or both of us will crash and burn.
I am blind to the colors around me, trapped in a world that is only black and white. Run or be caught. Hide or die.
Some people can just read others by simply looking at their facial expressions or actions, and Liam was one such talented person. He saw more than what Amy would say, right off the bat he knows she is afraid and running from something. Yet he is patient and never pushes her, but instead promises to fight back the evil. Now how could one not swoon or melt into a puddle of mush reading that. As if that wasn't enough he is one scrumptious alpha male, my one true weakness after oreos and chocolate, something I think I'd consider giving up for a taste of Liam Stone. Despite how quickly Liam and Amy connect, Lisa's writing style flows so effortlessly it's not only plausible but beautiful. A woman afraid and on the run, a man with a dominating and endearing presence. Sometimes it's just fate.
"Tell me who is scaring you and I promise you, Amy, I will make them go away."
"I want you. I can't walk away from you, Amy, and I have the sense that you could bolt at any minute. And yes you're right. I'm being barbaric. And intense. That's who I am and I can't be anyone but me. When I want something I go after it. And baby, I want you..."
